Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic medical system composed of several sophisticated techniques that are designed to cure illness and promote health and well being.
Originally developed in China and now used by many cultures throughout the world, TCM has been proven effective for treating a very wide variety of health issues. TCM is a safe and practical form of medicine that works to balance the body’s functions and restore health and wellness. Originating over 6,000 years ago, TCM addresses the unique health conditions of each individual patient, offering a wide variety techniques to diagnose and treat the root cause of health problems.
In traditional Chinese medicine, practitioners recognize that a balance of qi (energy) is essential to health and harmony in the body. The basic concept of TCM is that energy, or Qi, energizes all the metabolic activity in our bodies. This life force is always flowing. When Qi flows freely, we are healthy. When this QI (energy) is blocked or stagnated in one way or another, the body’s lines of communication (meridians) are weakened and disease or pain results. Consequently, unblocking this stagnation allows the flow of energy to become restored and the body can heal itself and regain the balance. Acupuncture can relieve pain, promote healing, and balance the body to optimize health and vitality.
